The United Brethren Church was organized in 1881. Their first meetings were held at the Stilwell School in southeast Pittsburg and later transfered to the Schnackenburg School in 1884. A permanent building was began at 405 S. Locust with the cornerstone being laid in 1884. In 1910 the building was enlarged by adding additions, remodeling and putting brick veneer on the outside. Then in 1951 the building was once again remodeled and a new entrance added. In 1958 a parsonage was built just north of the church. In 1946 the United Brethren Church and the Evangelical denomination united as the Evangelical United Brethern church. In 1968 it merged with the United Methodist Church, becoming The College Heights United Methodist Church. A new building for the newly merged congregrations was built at 1901 S. Tayler with a dedication service being held on October 1, 1967.
