The First Christian Church was founded in 1881 in the original school house at Fifth and Walnut. In 1884 a small wooden structure was built on the corner of Seventh and Pine, where the waterworks located in about 1888. The church then built a new building on lots donated by R. E. Carlton on the northeast corner of Fifth and Pine, dedicating the building on March 15, 1890. On December 6, 1917, a new 3 story brick building was built on the same lot. In 1984 they built a new church at 705 Centennial Drive, where they are still located today.
